As a player and an instructor, it is difficult to find a set that is both beautiful and playable - but this set hits them both! I am a folk-art fan so one look at the jokers and I knew I had found a winner!
*The tiles are nicely sized - so they work well with any of my racks.
*The numbers are uniformly placed (a biggie with my students) but they are also deep in color so easy to see even across a table.
*The tiles are nicely engraved so the paint should hold up well.
*I know this is a silly thing but the winds are so simple yet charming - so both experienced players will appreciate the beauty and new students will appreciate the ease in figuring them out.
*The graphics are clean, beautiful, and extremely playable - and, secretly, I am so happy that they don't say crak and bam on the dragons (I hate that!) as the dragons look like dragons and are appropriately colored. I secretly love the folk art "nibbles" that pop up in unexpected places (check out the craks, the backs of the dragons, the one bam....).
* I will note that the craks are not red - they are more like a persimmon red. It does not present an issue to either my experienced table or my students but wanted to let you know in case that would be an issue for you.
* And this last part is the surprise of it all - having pre-ordered in June, I was expecting this set to ship out the week of July 20. Imagine my surprise when I was notified it had shipped on July 10 and arrived on the 13th!! So many companies now are taking pre-orders and they are months behind the promised delivery date so give a high five to JoJo for not just meeting their promised date but delivering it over a week early! But don't worry - they kept me apprised so I knew to expect it early and that communication was perfect to ensure it didn't get delivered in the summer heat and sit out for days while no one was home!

If I could give 10 stars, I would. But the best I can do is share that I now ordered a second set from JoJo - and repeat buyers are the 10 star reviews!!!!
